Once we've agreed your design we construct the 'closed panels' that make up the walls, floors and roof of your Scothaus home. The windows and external doors - supplied by our German partners - are fitted and integrated with the external wall panels in the factory. It's a highly engineered, extraordinarily precise process which offers the perfect marriage between manufacturing technology and human skill and experience
Scothaus is manufactured by Scotframe Timber Engineering in a purpose-built, 75,000 sq ft factory in Cumbernauld, near Glasgow, supplying the UK and beyond.
The factory is located on the Westfield Industrial Estate - the most modern and best located estate within Cumbernauld - and benefits from having direct access to the M73 motorway leading to the Baillieston Interchange and the national motorway network. In addition, direct access can be obtained to the A80 trunk road which provides access to Glasgow City Centre and also to Stirling and the North.
The Scothaus system is manufactured using state-of-the-art, computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment supplied from Germany by Weinmann. Use of this equipment by Scotframe's highly skilled workforce using ISO quality assurance systems means that your Scothaus home is the epitome of manufacturing excellence.
The Scotframe Technical Team take your architect's construction drawings and from these develop a set of computer-aided design (CAD) production drawings. The production drawings are then used to programme the various CNC machines which operate to manufacture your home to millimetre tolerances of joinery work. It is impossible to achieve on site the levels of timber system quality achieved in the controlled conditions of the Scothaus factory. After all, when was the last time you saw a new motor car being assembled on a driveway before handing over the keys to the owner? Why have your home built in the open air when you can have it constructed in our Scothaus factory?
The Scothaus system comprises external wall and internal wall panels, floor and roof cassettes, with windows and external doors factory fitted. The system is structurally and thermally engineered to your precise requirements and to deliver outstanding thermal performance.
You can view an animation of the 4 different wall specifications on the Scothaus Advantage page.
Scotframe employs highly skilled and experienced craftsmen and technicians to manufacture your Scothaus home. The craftsmen work in the controlled conditions of the Cumbernauld production facility: controlled in terms of the environment itself - it is dry, warm and well-lit all year round; and controlled in terms of the quality assurance systems used to construct your Scothaus home. These conditions are far superior to the conditions pertaining on construction sites and mean that your Scothaus home is built to an extraordinary level of quality.
A comprehensive in-house design and technical team tends to every detail of your home, supported by a retained team of consulting structural engineers.
